Time to Say Goodbye...

Time to Say Goodbye…

Can you believe it’s that time of year already!?

Class parties, sports day, concerts and of course… finding out what class you’ll be teaching next year…

It feels very strange not getting ready to meet my own new children for next year so I thought I would spend the time putting my previous ideas and activities onto paper by creating lots of transition displays and activities for you to use…

Through display resources, I’ve tried to summarise the key concepts that I feel are important at this time of year…

Displays
1) Remembering … memories are important to children! So take the time to remember with them, share your favourite moments of the year, have some giggles and end on a positive!

2) Celebrate … make sure they look at what they’ve achieved this year! As individuals, teams, classes and as a whole school – look at the awards, the certificates and any other achievements collected throughout the year as it’s important for them to see what can be achieved and feel inspired to maintain and obtain next year too.

3) Reflect … from an assessment point of view, probably the most important (but remember there is more to education than assessment). Let them reflect with you, in groups, individually and as a whole class – look at the good and the not so. Reflection will then lead on nicely to the last part.

4) Goals … time to find out what they want to achieve next year. A good time to also set behavioural goals too and I’m not just referring to those children that misbehave and need to buck up their ideas. What about those that struggle to see the positive? Struggle to mix? Lack independence? Find it difficult coping with change? – What realistic targets could be set for the coming year to help them overcome these issues? What practical things could they do to improve?

You can view all my supporting display resources for these 4 concepts HERE

Activities
And for those new bundles of joy you’ll either be meeting now or next year, make sure you take a look at all the transition/getting to know you activities I’ve created.
You can view them all HERE

Certificates
For the next couple of days, I’ll be spending my time adding new certificates, to help you reward the children for the achievements they have made.
Some are already online and you can view them all HERE

So all that’s left to say is… enjoy! The Summer is not far away 🙂

Some great ideas – but too late for those of us who work in Scotland. We broke up more than a week ago and will be returning on or about August 13th. So spare a thought for us if the sun finally comes out in Mid August and we’ve missed it!

  2. I know! So sorry it hasn’t been online sooner.

I’ve been so swamped getting ready for the new website launches that I haven’t had time until now.

Although, lots of the displays and activities would also work well in September 🙂

Hope Mr sunshine comes out to play for everyone in Scotland before they have to head back into school 😀
