An owl certainly does NOT go ‘neigh’

I’m the guy who develops the websites and ensure they are looked after.
Well hello! If you are one of our awesome fans on facebook then you might actually know who I am! Otherwise let me quickly introduce myself. My name is Jay and I am responsible for all the website design and development at Teacher’s Pet and I founded the company alongside Christina in April 2010 (although she would love to
have you believing that she is the boss).

I’m the guy who develops the websites and ensure they are looked after. I will be using these ‘Fly on the wall’ blog posts to keep you up to date on any projects that we are working on as well as giving you sneaky previews of our progress. Anyway, that’s enough about me, on with my first blog post…

Sleep has definitely become a luxury and coffee has become a requirement!
It has been go-go-go in the Teacher’s Pet office for the last 8 weeks. I came on board full time with Teacher’s Pet towards the end of March and have been very busy working on lots of new and exciting projects (Christina has definitely been cracking the whip!), including this brand new blog! Sleep has definitely become a luxury and coffee has become a requirement! Anyway, enough of the ‘woe is me’ nonsense, let me fill you in on what I have been up to behind the scenes…

Development Diary

As our facebook fans and newsletter subscribers are surely aware of by now, I have been working hard on content for our upcoming ‘IWB and Games website’ which is scheduled for launch this Summer. At the moment I have completed 3 games with a 4th very nearly completed too.

Balloon Burst (Keyboard)
Balloon Burst is a game designed to help improve children’s keyboard skills. The game has 6 different difficulty levels meaning this game can be enjoyed by children with little-to-no knowledge of a keyboard to even the most proficient touch typist!

Balloon Burst (Mouse)
An alternative version of the above balloon burst game, this game follows a very similar concept but instead aims to improve children’s mouse skills, again with multiple difficulty settings this game can be enjoyed by all.

What time is it Mr Wolf?
I had great fun working on this game – it aims to help children understand how to tell the time using a traditional analogue clock face. The game is perfect for both independent, group and whole class play on interactive whiteboards.

Animatch! (Under development)
This game is a fun and interactive way to review children’s knowledge and understanding of farm animals and their sounds (sure to raise a giggle when the children guess incorrectly! An owl certainly does NOT go ‘neigh’)

Site Switcher
I have JUST finished working on a ‘Site Switcher’ – a drop down menu that allows you to easily navigate around our websites, it means that you can switch between our websites much faster.

So, as I was saying, with the blog development and the above game developments over the last 6-8 weeks, sleep has definitely been a luxury! My long term goal is to develop a new game/resource every week as well as keeping on top of the day to day maintenance of the Teacher’s Pet websites.

That’s it for my first post, I am starting to detect blood in my coffee stream so until next time, thanks for reading!
