Teacher’s Pet: Relaunched, Redesigned & Reinvented!

On 15/08/2012 at 9am we closed all our old websites to make way for our brand new and improved sites. We have taken on board a lot of suggestions that we have received from our users over the last 2 years and we feel that the new sites look much nicer and let the resources stand out much more.

Don’t worry though, the update is more than just a facelift! For the last 6 months I have been rebuilding all of the websites from scratch. There are LOTS of new features and improvements…

What’s New?

New category system

A brand new category system has been implemented. The old sites required you to return to the home page before you could access the categories and we just knew that we needed something different! You can now access the categories via the ‘drop down’ menu at the top of every page, so moving between topics, resources and categories is now much, much easier!

Improved category navigation

If you see a category name or topic name written anywhere on the site, click it and you will be taken to that categories resources. You can even click on categories higher in the tree so rather than viewing ‘EYFS -> Numeracy -> Counting’ you could click on ‘Numeracy’ and view all resources in the Numeracy category! The same works for the ‘root’ categories of EYFS, KS1, KS2 and for the displays website Classroom Management and Classroom Environment.

New topics area!

We now have a brand new Topic Area on the sites allowing you to browse ALL of our resources by Topic! You can browse using the topic categories, by key stage, alphabetically and you can also search for a topic, all on one handy and colourful page!
Visit Displays Topic Area
Visit Activities Topic Area

New Search Engine!

The resource search engine has been given a huge turbo boost! Searching is much much easier and all results are listed by relevance to your search, a lot like how google displays search results!

And much, much more!

There are many, many more new features but it would be a very long blog post if I went into them all in detail now, head over to the websites and take a look for yourselves! Be sure to leave your feedback in the comments area below or on facebook!

Goodbye Printing Service…

Printing website has been retired πŸ™

At 7pm all but one of the websites came back online, unfortunately we have had to say goodbye to the ever popular printing service but the story doesn’t end there! Keep your eyes peeled soon for a brand new Teacher’s Pet Shop. The shop will let you order pre-made packs of our popular and favourite resources and have them delivered straight to your door!

For the ‘techies’ out there

One question i’m sure is running through the minds of the web savvy technology fans out there is ‘why flash?’ – well the answer here is simple. I am an Adobe Flash developer with 6 years experience, it’s what I know and what I love. I feel very strongly that contrary to popular opinion, Flash DOES have a place on the web, it allows for creative, cross platform websites with great interactivity and stability.

New Apps Coming Soon!

For those of you with iPads, iPhones, iPods and Android devices; don’t worry! Although you may not be able to access our websites at the moment I am working away hard at a native app for each platform which will allow you to browse our resources from your mobile device! We believe that native apps provide a much better experience than simply a ‘mobile version’ of a website and we hope to deliver these experiences to you as soon as we can!

Thank you!

We would like to take a moment to thank each and every one of our friends, family members, website visitors and community members for your continued support over the last 2-and-a-bit years! Here’s to the next chapter in the Teacher’s Pet story, we hope you are as excited about it as we are and we hope you absolutely LOVE the new websites, and we hope you will continue to share Teacher’s Pet with your friends and colleagues!

  1. Great rebuild looks fantastic!!

  2. Fabulous! So much easier to navigate and find resources. Looking forward to the Android app too! Congratulations πŸ™‚

  3. Thanks guys, it’s been a huge task but well worth it! πŸ™‚

  4. I had a whole load of prints lined up for an order, went to click the button tonight after a day working out what I finally need… and find the print service is gone! Gutted! When will the shop be available? Thank you

  5. Hi, love the pictures of the new site. Is it live? It’s a little frustrating that I can’t access the website because it takes me to a ‘coming soon’ page for the app without another link to carry on to the site.

  6. Can you tell me how to access Teacher’s Pet and subscribe, I’m having such difficulty. Thanks.

  7. Hi

I have not been able to log onto the site since the new launch. Wonder if there is a new log in or something I need. Just keep getting a blank screen. Sorry

  8. Hi guys…love, love, love your resources. Have done so for years and use many of them in my classroom. Have also spread the word in my school and you can pretty much go into any classroom and find your stuff on the walls. Can you just confirm for us long time followers, has the free site now shut for good. Can we only access your beautiful resources by annual subscription? I was about to post your link on my teacher blog as a great place to find VCOP resources but felt I must clarify this point first.

Thanks guys and keep up the great work πŸ˜€

  9. Am trying desperately to subscribe but the ads on the bottom of the page cover any buttons which would allow me to enter my details. So not only can I not subscribe, but I can’t send an email either!

    Please help……

  10. Have found that CTRL + 0 didn’t work but using the tools button did.

Have now subscribed and happily finding great resources.

    • Hi Paul, sorry for the late reply we have had a couple of weeks away from the computers to unwind. Glad to hear you resolved the zooming issue! πŸ™‚
